Sulphureous sources of river Lavino

This area 15 located few kms away from Scafa, where the little mountain stream, coming from the south western part of the Majella, becomes the Lavino river and dose to Decontra meets the sulphureous waters of the homonymous Springs. The area of the springs is particularly impressive with those little green-blue lakes thanks to the presence of sulphates in the waters. The surrounding landscape is mainly devoted to the agriculture while trees of Willows and Poplars limit the area where the waters are surrounded by Reed maces, Juncus and Reeds. The algae color the depth of the small lakes with two different tones of green and blue. Walking upwards the springs of the river, there is the Country Maple, the Hornbeam, the Madder and the May-blossom. The Broom, the Sowbread and the Periwinkle color the underwood. Very dose to the waters live the Morhen, the Cetti's Warbler, the Grey Wagtail and the Kingfisher. In the agricultural area there is the Blackcap, the Wren, the Lui’, the Subalpine Warbler, the Serin and the Goldfinch. During the night this area is populated by the Weasel, the Beech Marten, the Badger and the Fox. Further down towards the valley it is possible to see an old millhouse with grinders still operating.
