This reserve is located in the borough pf Penna S. Andrea in the province of Teramo. Here there are some tracks equipped with resting areas and signs describing the different trees. Some of these tracks reach the most important areas of the Turkey oak plantation: to a secular cerris in the pond area. In the wood of the reserve vegetate the Cerris, the Austrian pine, the Field Maple, the Laburnum. The existence of ponds ease the growth of the Willow, the Almond Willow, the White Poplar and of some herbaceous species such as the Reed-mace and the Ditch reed. The kind of faune is the one typical of the hilly environment. The Long-tailed Tit, the Blue Tit, the Green Woodpecker, the Nuthatch nest here. Tin the bushes can be found the Wren, the Chiffchaff, the Nightingale and the Blackbird. Among the birds of prey there are: the Buzzard, the Sparrowhawk, the Kestrel; as for the nocturnal birds of prey there are: the Tawny Owl, the Scops Owl and the Little Owl. |
