Reserves and natural oasis Wood of Don Venanzio The wood of Don Venanzio is 8 hectares wide and it derives its name from the second last owner of it. It is located on an old meander of the Fiume Sinello, approximately 5 kms away from the sea, and it is part of the Pollutri borough. This area was once much more extended and it represents now the last evidence of those woods in plain that used to cover most of the rivers in Abruzzo. It is a high trunk wood where the most common spices oftrees are: South Ash, White Poplar, Pedunculate Oak. There are also many shrubs and herbaceous plants such as Common dog wood, Ivy, Pendulous sedge, Blue wood anemone, Butcher's broom and Orange lily etc. The control of this wood is under the responsibility of the Corps of State Foresters. The wood is property of the Pollutri borough.
